What a spiritual director does

A spiritual director is not a therapist, though the work can feel therapeutic. The distinction matters. Therapy tends to focus on psychological healing and symptom relief. Spiritual direction focuses on the soul's movement, on what is alive in a person's interior life and where it wants to go.
